Worth knowing about Bariloche

• The airport is 13 km from San Carlos de Bariloche.
• Alongside domestic flights the airport takes seasonal international services to Brazilian cities and to Santiago de Chile.
• The city bus to the airport, MIBUS line 72, has only eleven departures a day from the centre, the first at 06:40 and the last at 21:30.
• Line 72 is an ordinary city bus, not an airport coach: it calls at the long-distance bus terminal and the Caminera checkpoint on the way in from the centre.
• The municipality states plainly that the means of payment for urban transport in Bariloche is the SUBE card.
• SUBE cards are sold at kiosks and at the SUBE office in the Centro Civico, open Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm.
• The official city tourism site says the line 72 airport fare is payable only with a SUBE card.
• The municipal fare table prices the airport and Cerro Catedral as their own fare bands, separate from the city's numbered sections.
• Mi Bus runs the city network. Besides the airport line 72, line 20 goes from the bus terminal through downtown to Llao Llao and line 10 to Colonia Suiza.

• Discounts such as the Tarifa Social Federal, local benefits and transfer discounts stay available only to people paying with a SUBE card, physical or digital.
• The Nahuel Huapi National Park administration warns that most outdoor areas of the park have no mobile signal. It asks walkers to tell family or friends in advance and to save the emergency numbers before setting out.
• Before any mountain outing in the park, trekkers must register within the 48 hours beforehand, check the forecast and look for trail closures. Registration is available at information offices, ranger stations and the park's official online channels.
• The nearest road crossing into Chile is Cardenal Samore. It sits at about 1,305 metres on Ruta Nacional 231 beyond Villa La Angostura and continues as CH-215 towards Osorno. Winter snow can shut it, so check its status before travelling.
