Worth knowing about Florianopolis
- Florianopolis is mostly an island city: it covers Santa Catarina Island and surrounding islets plus a strip of mainland, and everything crossing to the mainland goes over one of three bridges.
- The three island-mainland bridges are the Hercilio Luz bridge of 1926, the Colombo Salles bridge and the Pedro Ivo bridge.
- Hercilio Luz International Airport is 14 km from downtown Florianopolis and has been run by Zurich Airport Brasil since 2017.
- Florianopolis has no metro or urban rail system.
- The airport's own directions page puts the terminal about 12 km from the Centro of Florianopolis.
- The airport concessionaire has a contract with Uber, which operates with signposted pick up and drop off points. There is also a taxi rank open 24 hours.
- Free wifi called Fenixconecta covers all six bus integration terminals. You do one simple registration, then each later visit asks only for the login email and password.
- From 5 January 2026 cash is no longer accepted on board buses in Florianopolis. Fares are paid by transport card, the FloripanoPonto app QR code, or PIX.
- Cash is still accepted at terminal ticket offices to load a transport card, and the listed cash fare at the ticket office is 7.70 reais.
- PIX payment directly on the bus validators started on 23 December 2025.
- The Passe Rapido Turista card is aimed at visitors and costs 5 reais, sold at the Passe Rapido counter in TICEN or at any neighbourhood terminal ticket office.
- Card types are Cidadao, Estudante, Especiais, Turista and Vale-Transporte. The Cidadao card requires an original RG, a CPF and proof of residence.
- Listed conventional fares are 7.70 reais for cash at the ticket office, QR code or PIX, 6.20 reais on a Cidadao card, and 7.20 reais on Turista and Vale-Transporte cards.
- The Sistema Integrado de Mobilidade began in 2003 and took its present name in 2014. Its six active integration terminals are TICEN, TITRI, TILAG, TISAN, TICAN and TIRIO.
- ANATEL's prepaid registration page asks for a CPF, date of birth and residential CEP, plus a photo ID and a selfie. It names only the Brazilian CNH and RG, not a passport.
- The Hercilio Luz bridge opened on 13 May 1926, lost motor traffic in 1982, closed fully in 1991, reopened on 30 December 2019 and took all traffic again from March 2020.
- Three Consorcio Fenix bus lines serve the airport: 431 TICEN to Aeroporto, 477 TIRIO to Aeroporto via Tapera, and V-468 TIRIO to Multihospital via Aeroporto. The Fenix site shows which run vehicles with a lift, and the airport has a free bike rack.
- The current passenger terminal opened on 1 October 2019. It is four times the size of the old one and has 10 boarding bridges, where the previous terminal had none.
