Worth knowing about Plovdiv
- There is no regular public bus to the airport. The only scheduled link is a shuttle timed to flights: it leaves Bus Station "South" in Plovdiv 30 minutes before check-in opens (roughly 2.5 hours before departure) and leaves the airport 30 minutes after each scheduled flight lands.
- The airport shuttle costs BGN 10 per person, paid in cash directly on the bus rather than online worth knowing before you rely on a card.
- Plovdiv Airport is a low-frequency airport: it is Bulgaria's fourth-busiest, is heavily charter- and ski-season driven, and its scheduled service is a handful of Ryanair and Wizz Air routes to the UK, Italy and central Europe.
- The airport is not in Plovdiv itself but at Krumovo, southeast of the city, and it doubles as the alternate landing field for Sofia Airport, about 150 km away on the Trakiya motorway.
