- Toussaint Louverture has opened and closed repeatedly. Gang violence shut it in March 2024, it reopened to civil airliners on 20 May 2024, closed again in November 2024 after a Spirit Airlines A320neo was hit by gunfire on approach on 11 November, and commercial operations resumed on 12 June 2025.
- On 23 November 2025 Sunrise Airways announced that all flights to and from Port-au-Prince were temporarily suspended, after one of its aircraft was reported hit by bullets while taxiing. Check the day's status rather than any printed schedule.
- The carriers on the airport's list, American Airlines, JetBlue and the Canadian operator Air Transat, all stand as suspended. The FAA ordered US carriers out of Haitian airspace after the November 2024 shooting.
- The airport is in Tabarre, a commune of Port-au-Prince, so it is inside the metropolitan area rather than out of town.
