Underground and on the metro
Lagos Rail Mass Transit runs 2 lines. It opened in 2023. The operator does not publish whether the tunnels carry a mobile signal, so we do not claim either way.
Worth knowing about Lagos
- The international and domestic terminals at Murtala Muhammed are about a kilometre apart, so switching between them is a landside transfer.
- Lagos rail opened recently the Blue Line on 4 September 2023 and the Red Line on 15 October 2024 but the Red Line's airport branch to the international terminal has not opened yet.
- Lagos is built on islands and lagoons, and reaching Lagos Island from the airport side means crossing the Carter, Eko or Third Mainland bridges.
- Nigeria has required SIM cards to be registered since the NCC began the exercise in March 2011, and unregistered SIMs have repeatedly been treated as a national security matter.
