Worth knowing about Bratislava
- Bratislava is served by two airports in two different countries: its own at 9 km, and Vienna International 57 km away, which is reached by direct coach and means your device may attach to an Austrian network on arrival.
- Bratislava Airport is unusually close to the centre at about 9 km, connected by a single trolleybus route (61) that also reaches the central railway station.
- A dedicated night bus, N61, covers the airport when the daytime trolleybus is not running.
- Since 1 June 2025 Bratislava's Tapni sa system lets you pay by holding a contactless bank card, phone or smart watch to the validator in the vehicle, with no registration.
- Tapping without choosing anything buys the basic 30 minute ticket at 1.09 euro. Longer, 24 hour and discounted tickets are selected on the validator screen.
- Tapni sa caps a day's travel at 4.85 euro however many trips you make, and every ticket it sells allows transfers, so you do not tap again when changing vehicle.
- Several tickets can be bought on one card or phone, so a group travelling together does not each need a payment card.
- Tickets can also be bought by SMS to the short numbers 1140, 1100 and 1124, priced from 1.20 to 5.40 euro depending on how long they last.
