Worth knowing about Cappadocia
- Cappadocia is a historical region, not a city: it spans the Nevşehir, Kayseri, Aksaray, Kırşehir, Sivas and Niğde provinces of central Anatolia, and Göreme is a district of Nevşehir Province.
- Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport is the closer of the two arrival airports and DHMİ, the state operator, puts it 30 km from the city; it is overwhelmingly a domestic airport, with 748,550 domestic against 5,939 international passengers in 2025.
- Kayseri Airport (ASR/LTAU) is the second gateway to Cappadocia, a joint civil-military field 5 km north of Kayseri that handles both domestic and international traffic.
- Neither Cappadocia airport has a rail link: DHMİ lists only İpek Tur shuttle buses timed to flights, a taxi cooperative rank and car hire desks at Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport, so every transfer to Göreme, Ürgüp or Avanos is by road.
