Worth knowing about Hamilton
- Bermuda taxis are metered and the rates are set by government: $5.15 to start plus $2.75 a mile for one to four passengers, $6.45 and $3.50 a mile for five to seven, and $1 for each piece of luggage.
- Fares go up by 25 to 50 per cent between midnight and 6am, and all day on Sundays and public holidays, so a late arrival costs noticeably more.
- The airport itself tells arriving passengers not to use the public bus with luggage. Reckon on 20 to 40 minutes by taxi to a hotel in the central parishes.
- The terminal you land in opened in December 2020 and replaced the old building. It is on St David's Island in St George's Parish, 11 km northeast of Hamilton, and is run under concession by Bermuda Skyport.
