Worth knowing about Banff
- Banff has no airport of its own. Calgary International (YYC) is the arrival airport, with the town 128 kilometres (80 miles) west of Calgary and the highway drive taking about 1.5 hours.
- The car-free route in is a scheduled shuttle: the Town of Banff lists seven operators (Banff Airporter, Brewster Express, FlixBus, Discover Banff Tours, Vivo Green, The Fairy Bus, AbestX) at $15 to $80 per trip depending on season and booking.
- Banff Airporter asks passengers to allow 45 minutes to collect bags and reach its desk after a domestic arrival, and 60 minutes after an international arrival, before their booked departure.
- Banff sits inside Banff National Park, so a Parks Canada entry pass is required; regular admission fees apply as of 8 September 2026, with 7 September the last day of free admission.
