Worth knowing about Beira
- Beira Airport has three asphalt runways: 12/30 at 2,362 m, 17/35 at 1,698 m and 06/24 at 920 m. It started as a military airbase in 1962 and that role ended in 1975.
- Scheduled service is Airlink to Johannesburg, Ethiopian Airlines to Addis Ababa, LAM Mozambique Airlines to Chimoio, Johannesburg, Maputo, Nampula, Pemba and Tete, and Mocambique Expresso to Maputo.
- Beira is Mozambique's second largest seaport after Maputo and the coastal end of the Beira corridor, the rail and road route inland to Zimbabwe and Malawi.
- Cyclone Idai struck Beira on 14 March 2019 with winds up to 177 km/h and flooding up to six metres deep, and destroyed an estimated 90 percent of the city.
- The Sena railway starts at Dondo just north of Beira, but its Blantyre to Nhamayabue section has been disused since 1997; Mozambique began rehabilitation in 2021 and pledged completion in February 2026.
