Worth knowing about Maputo
- Maputo International is only 3 km (1.9 mi) northwest of the city centre, so the transfer into town is short.
- The international terminal opened on 15 November 2010 with capacity for 900,000 passengers a year and the domestic terminal was completed in 2012; the airport handled 1,051,868 passengers in 2023, so it now runs above the international terminal's design figure.
- The Maputo to Katembe bridge, described as Africa's largest suspension bridge, opened on 10 November 2018, but the ferry across the bay to KaTembe still runs on weekdays, carrying about 20 vehicles a trip.
- Maputo's Central Railway Station, built between 1913 and 1916, is the terminus of three separate lines: the Goba line, the Limpopo line and the Pretoria to Maputo route.
