- The passenger terminal shares its site with Air Base 101 of the Nigerien armed forces. The base was attacked on 29 January 2026, on 18 June 2026 and again on 29 August 2026, and flights diverted away from the airport during the first of those.
- After gunfire near the airport and the presidential palace on 29 August, the UK Foreign Office warned that the road between central Niamey and the airport may carry extra security checkpoints and short notice travel disruption.
