Worth knowing about Piran
- Portoroz Airport is only about 6 km from Piran but has no scheduled airline service, so arrivals come overland from a larger airport.
- Piran closed its old town to cars in 2010, so the final approach is on foot or by shuttle from car parks outside the historic core.
- Piran is linked to the rest of the Slovenian coast by a local bus line to Koper, Izola, Portoroz and Lucija, with extra coastal services running mainly in the tourist season.
- Local buses run as Piran Municipal Transport line 1, Piran to Beli Kriz to Portoroz to Lucija, and line 2, Piran to Portoroz to Strunjan.
- Two mini bus routes link the Fornace and Arze car parks to Tartini Square. The Fornace shuttle runs about every 15 minutes, the Arze one only four times a day.
- A ride costs 1.00 euro with the Single City Card Piran, which itself costs 3.50 euros, or through the Arriva app. Paying by contactless bank card costs 2.00 euros a ride.
- Cash is not accepted on the local buses, so a visitor arriving with only notes and coins cannot pay a fare.
- There is no railway station in Piran or Portoroz. The nearest is Koper, from where regular buses, taxis and hire cars finish the journey.
- Intercity coaches are run by Arriva, Nomago and FlixBus. FlixBus services from Italy, Austria, Germany, Croatia and Hungary stop at the main bus station in Portoroz.

- Nearby Strunjan runs a free shuttle in July and August, 8am to 10pm, between its bus station and the Krka bathing area.
