Underground and on the metro
Stockholm metro (Tunnelbana) runs 3 lines. It opened in 1950. The operator does not publish whether the tunnels carry a mobile signal, so we do not claim either way.
Worth knowing about Stockholm
- Stockholm's low-cost airport, Skavsta, is 100 km from the city and the coach into Cityterminalen takes about 90 minutes - budget for far more than the Arlanda Express's 18 minutes.
- A-Train holds an exclusive concession on the Stockholm-Arlanda rail corridor and charges other operators that stop at Arlanda Central, which is why non-Arlanda Express trains carry a station passage fee.
- Only 47 of the Stockholm metro's 100 stations are underground; 53 are above ground, so much of the network is in the open air.
- Arlanda has terminals numbered 2, 3, 4 and 5 and has never had a Terminal 1, and the two rail stations there (Arlanda North and Arlanda South) serve different terminal groups.
