- There is no public bus service to Fua'amotu airport; taxis are available and several Nuku'alofa hotels and hostels meet flights.
- Tonga's international internet reaches the country over the Tonga Cable System, an 827 km submarine fibre link to Suva, Fiji, that lands at Sopu in Nuku'alofa.
- When the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai eruption severed that single cable in January 2022, Tonga was cut off from the global internet for about five weeks.
