Worth knowing about Melbourne
- Free airport wifi does not reach Terminal 1, which Qantas operates, so a Qantas domestic passenger cannot rely on it.
- The SkyBus city express terminates at Southern Cross Station and carries free wifi on board.
- The airport puts itself about 25 km northwest of the CBD by road via the Tullamarine Freeway; Wikipedia gives the distance as about 22 km.
- Rideshare pick-ups at Melbourne Airport carry a per-trip airport charge of $4.48 including GST, which operators may pass on to the passenger.
- The underground City Loop has mobile coverage through all its stations and tunnels, delivered with 10.5 km of leaky feeder cable in the tunnels and about 100 antennas on platforms and in stations.
- The Metro Tunnel opened on 30 November 2025 with five new underground stations beneath Swanston Street, linking the Sunbury line with the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines and bypassing Flinders Street. Full service began on 1 February 2026.
- Since June 2026 full-fare passengers can tap on Melbourne trains and trams with a bank card, phone or smartwatch instead of a myki. Concession travellers still need a myki, and buses were due to follow.

- Taxi ranks sit on the ground floor outside T1 and T2 and in the T4 Transport Hub. The airport warns against accepting a taxi offer anywhere other than these designated ranks.
- Regional, direct, group and charter coaches all leave from the Terminal 4 Transport Hub, run by operators that Public Transport Victoria and the airport authorise to serve destinations across Victoria.
