- Batumi's airport is only 2 km south of the city and 20 km northeast of Hopa in Turkey, closer to the Turkish border than to most of Georgia.
- Municipal bus 10 stops in front of the terminal and reaches the centre in about 20 minutes for 0.30 GEL.
- The airport is named after Alexander Kartveli, an aeronautical engineer and aviation pioneer, and a sculpture of Fadiko Gogitidze, Adjara's first woman pilot, stands at the entrance.
- The terminal has been in operation since 26 May 2007 and was doubled to 8,000 square metres between 2019 and 2021, for 1.2 million passengers a year.
