Worth knowing about Montego Bay
- Sangster International is only about 4.8 km east of Montego Bay, making it a far shorter transfer than Jamaica's other international gateway at Kingston.
- There is no rail link: taxis, hotel shuttles and car rental all leave from a single Ground Transportation Hall, which also houses the resort-chain lounges.
- Montego Bay is the hub for Jamaica's short domestic hops AirLink Express flies scheduled services from here to Negril Aerodrome on the island's western tip.
- Currency exchange in the terminal is operated by Global Exchange and accepts 11 currencies.
- Jamaica's Universal Service Fund names each public Wi-Fi network USF Connect followed by the location, for example USF Connect Emancipation Park. Users must go through a log in page before reaching the network.
- The government's own fact sheet on the free community Wi-Fi programme states a 10 minute usage limit per IP address, that users may reconnect their devices as many times as needed, and that a hotspot can hold up to 250 users at once.
- The same government fact sheet counted 252 public hotspot locations across all 14 parishes, with 63 more sites planned online by the end of 2023.
