- Negril's own aerodrome has no fuelling facilities and no night flight operations, so late arrivals have to come overland.
- The nearest international airport is Sangster at Montego Bay, about 80.8 km away; the road between the two was only improved in the early 1970s, which is what opened Negril up as a resort.
- Negril is not a compact town but a widely dispersed beach resort spread across two parishes, Westmoreland and Hanover, at the far western end of Jamaica.
