Worth knowing about Harare
- The airport was renamed from Harare International to Robert Gabriel Mugabe International on 9 November 2017. Both names are still in circulation, and the old ICAO code FVHA still turns up alongside the current FVRG.
- It runs 24 hours a day, 15 km south of the city, with separate international and domestic terminals, 42 check in counters, seven aerobridges and complimentary Wi-Fi.
- Harare has had no passenger rail service since 2020. The overnight trains to Bulawayo and Mutare stopped for the pandemic and never restarted, and the Freedom Trains commuter routes to Tynwald, Mufakose and Ruwa were revived in 2021 then suspended again in November 2022 over a payment dispute with the bus operator ZUPCO.
- Day to day transport in Harare is commuter omnibuses and shared minibus kombis. Metered taxis do not cruise for fares and have to be called to a destination.
