- MTR menyatakan semua stasiunnya tercakup 5G, dan pemerintah melaporkan 5G di seluruh jalur MTR dan 98 stasiun. Sejak 2024 MTR menambah kapasitas 3.3 GHz dan 3.5 GHz di 24 stasiun beserta terowongannya.

- Near the boundary with Shenzhen and on some outlying islands, phones can drop off Hong Kong networks and onto a stronger mainland signal, billed as roaming. The regulator OFCA advises picking your local network manually in settings.
- Every MTR station has free Wi-Fi on its concourses and platforms. Join 'MTR Free Wi-Fi', open any web address and tap 'Agree and connect' for a 15 minute session, up to 10 sessions per device each day.
- Every local SIM in Hong Kong, prepaid cards included, must complete real-name registration before it works. Visitors without a Hong Kong identity card register with a passport or other valid travel document.
- Visitors with an iPhone can set up an Octopus card before landing through the Octopus App for Tourists, paying with a Visa, Mastercard or UnionPay card issued outside Hong Kong. It carries a HK$50 deposit, refundable through the same app.
- MTR gates, Airport Express included, accept contactless Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay credit cards and phones linked to them, at the adult Octopus fare. Use the same card or device to exit as to enter.
- Taxi colour tells you where it can go: red urban taxis cover most of the territory, green ones the northern New Territories, and blue ones only Lantau and Chek Lap Kok. All three may serve the airport terminals.
- Since 1 April 2026, every Hong Kong taxi driver must offer at least two electronic payment options, one QR code method and one that is not QR based.
