Slowenien: Mobilfunkanbieter
- Telekom Slovenije: Telekom Slovenije had the largest share of mobile broadband users at the end of March 2025, 33.11 percent, up 1.6 points in a year. In January 2025 it ran 1,353 base station sites, 651 of them with 5G NR.
- Telemach: Telemach held 27.16 percent of mobile broadband users at the end of March 2025. In January 2025 it had 1,148 base station sites, 163 with 5G NR, and it was the only one of the three large networks still running UMTS, or 3G, on its own sites.
- A1 Slovenija: A1 Slovenija held 26.25 percent of mobile broadband users at the end of March 2025. It operated 1,156 base station sites in January 2025, 670 of them with 5G NR, the most 5G sites of any Slovenian network.
- T-2: T-2, the fourth network, held 6.35 percent of mobile broadband users. With 146 sites, its own LTE signal reached 56.54 percent of the population and 19.55 percent of the territory in January 2025; where operators lack their own network they rent another's.
- Other providers: Seven operators sold mobile broadband at the end of March 2025. Besides the four networks, HoT mobil held 6.35 percent of users, Mega M 0.61 percent and Softnet 0.16 percent.
Slowenien: ältere Netze
- Telekom Slovenije ended 3G service by 30 September 2022 and A1 Slovenija by 30 June 2023. By the end of March 2025 only 1.14 percent of mobile data users were still on 3G, and 2G use had fallen to 4.29 percent.
- A1 Slovenija keeps 2G running for voice calls after closing 3G, so an older phone without 4G can still call and text on A1 over 2G, though data there is very slow.
- From 1 July 2024 Telemach stopped using 2G in national roaming, so its customers no longer fall back to another operator's 2G network. Telemach says more than 1,100 of its own base stations cover 99.75 percent of the population.
Slowenien: 5G
- In an April 2021 auction the regulator sold 15 year rights in the 700 MHz, 1500 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 3600 MHz and 26 GHz bands for more than 164 million euros. Telekom Slovenije paid 52.1 million, Telemach 51.6 million, A1 42.4 million and T-2 18.2 million.
- All three holders of 700 MHz and 3600 MHz spectrum, A1 Slovenija, Telekom Slovenije and Telemach, offer 5G to customers. T-2 offers 5G in the municipalities of Ljubljana and Kranj on its 2300 MHz spectrum.
- 5G reached 96.7 percent of Slovenian households in 2024 and 87.6 percent in rural areas. By the end of March 2025, 41.31 percent of mobile data users were on 5G, up about 10 points in a year.
Slowenien: Hinweise zum Netz
- On the regulator's January 2025 figures, the own LTE networks of Telekom Slovenije, A1 and Telemach each reach more than 99 percent of the population, and cover 97.45, 93.65 and 93.6 percent of Slovenian territory respectively.
- Their GSM layers cover even more ground: 98.92 percent of Slovenian territory for Telekom Slovenije, 98.22 percent for A1 and 97.68 percent for Telemach.
- Under national roaming agreements, a customer whose operator lacks adequate signal in an area uses another Slovenian network there, usually at a different and higher price than on the home network. Operators advise choosing the network manually where possible.
