Wissenswertes über Sarande
- Saranda hat keinen eigenen Flughafen. Albaniens einziger Flughafen mit kommerziellen Linienflügen liegt in Tirana, und die nationale Tourismusagentur gibt die Fahrt von dort nach Saranda mit etwa 3 Stunden an.
- Der kürzere Weg führt über See von Korfu: Finikas Lines gibt die Überfahrt mit etwa 30 Minuten an und setzt sowohl Tragflügelboote (Flying Dolphins) als auch normale Passagierfähren ein.
- Die Anreise über Korfu bedeutet, eine internationale Grenze per Boot zu überqueren. Der Flughafen Korfu liegt in Griechenland, Saranda in Albanien, direkt gegenüber der Insel.
- Der Flughafen Korfu liegt etwa 2.7 km von Korfu Stadt entfernt, und die Stadtbuslinie 15 verbindet den Flughafen mit dem Hafen, an dem die Boote nach Albanien anlegen, über die Intercity Bus Station und den San Rocco Square.
- Albania's regulator AKEP warns that phones near a border can slip onto a foreign network and incur roaming charges, and advises selecting the national network manually. Saranda sits directly opposite the Greek island of Corfu, which makes that setting worth checking here.

- Ionian Seaways also sails between Corfu port and Saranda. Its Flying Dolphin hydrofoils take 30 to 45 minutes, while its passenger ship and car ferries take 55 to 70 minutes.
- Winter service across the strait is thin. From 1 January to 6 March 2026 Ionian Seaways ran one sailing a day each way, while from July to September it listed more than a dozen departures a day from Corfu.
- Rental cars hired on Corfu may not be taken across to Albania on the Ionian Seaways ferries, according to a notice printed on its timetable.
- Booking the Corfu crossing requires passport details, date and place of birth under maritime safety rules and the Greek and Albanian agreement. The operator also asks for a mobile number so it can reach passengers about delays or cancellations.
- Arriving at Tirana airport, a second hourly bus runs from 07:00 to 18:00 to the South and North Bus Terminal, a 20 to 30 minute ride, where coaches leave for southern cities including Saranda.
- Albania's eTransport platform, recommended by Tirana airport, gathers the country's official intercity bus lines, stations and schedules in one place, which helps when planning the long road south to Saranda.
- Butrint National Park, which surrounds the UNESCO listed ancient city of Butrint, lies near Saranda and takes in lakes, lagoons, forest, cliffs and coastline.
- Ksamil, just south of Saranda, holds a Mussel Festival on 30 and 31 May with concerts, exhibitions and traditional performances, and its three small islands can be reached by boat or by swimming.
