Wissenswertes über Hamburg

• Die Hochbahn gibt an, dass es in ihren U-Bahn Tunneln weiterhin kein ausreichendes LTE Netz gibt, deshalb haben die Züge kein WLAN an Bord, obwohl die Stationen per Glasfaser angebunden sind.
• Die S1 wird in Ohlsdorf geteilt. Nur die vorderen drei Wagen fahren weiter zum Flughafen, der hintere Zugteil fährt nach Poppenbuttel.
• Die S-Bahn Station am Flughafen liegt unter der Erde, direkt von Terminal 1 und 2 per Aufzug oder Rolltreppe erreichbar, und wurde erst am 11. Dezember 2008 eröffnet.
• Hamburg Airport wurde im Januar 1911 eröffnet und ist der älteste noch betriebene internationale Flughafen der Welt. Im November 2016 wurde er nach Helmut Schmidt benannt.
• Die S1 fährt zwischen etwa 6 Uhr morgens und 11 Uhr abends alle 10 Minuten und braucht 25 Minuten bis zum Hauptbahnhof.

• HADAG ferry line 62 belongs to the hvv network and leaves Landungsbruecken pier 3 for Finkenwerder about every 15 minutes between 06:45 and 22:15 on weekdays, calling at the Fischmarkt, Dockland and Neumuehlen/Oevelgoenne on the way.
• Buying single and day tickets in the hvv switch app earns a 7 percent discount, which also applies to upgrades. Season tickets and tourist offers get no online discount.
• Airport buses stop in front of Terminal 1 on the arrivals level. Night bus 606 links the airport with the Hauptbahnhof and the Rathausmarkt, and taxis wait outside both terminals, taking cash or cards.
• Hamburg's culture and tourism tax is a fixed amount per guest and night, set by the net room price. For bookings from 2025 it is 1.20 euros up to 50 euros, 2.40 euros up to 100 and 4.80 euros up to 200.
• The tax falls on the hotel, which may pass it on to the guest but does not have to. It covers stays shorter than two months, and business trips have been taxed since 1 January 2023.
