Wissenswertes über Accra
- Der Flughafen wurde im Februar 2026 in Accra International Airport umbenannt, zurück zu dem Namen, unter dem er 1958 eröffnet wurde. Der IATA Code bleibt ACC.
- Lieutenant General Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka, dessen Namen der Flughafen ab 1969 trug, wurde bei einem gescheiterten Putsch an einer Stelle getötet, die heute der Vorplatz des Flughafens ist.
- Accra ist Landepunkt des Seekabels SAT-3/WASC, in Betrieb seit 2001, und von 2Africa, einem 45,000 km langen System, dessen Landung in Accra von Bayobab der MTN Group betrieben wird.
- Ghana verlangt die Registrierung von SIM Karten. Ausländer ohne Wohnsitz registrieren sich mit Reisepass oder ECOWAS Karte beim Agenten des Anbieters, geprüft wird gegen eine zugelassene Datenbank statt gegen das nationale Ausweissystem.
