- Riga non ha metropolitana e non l'ha mai avuta: la costruzione era prevista dal 1990 ma è stata annullata dopo le proteste pubbliche e il crollo dell'URSS, lasciando Riga la capitale baltica o nordica più grande senza metro.
- L'aeroporto non ha ancora una stazione ferroviaria, la linea di autobus 22 è il collegamento pubblico, con una stazione Rail Baltica prevista ma non costruita.
- Riga Airport ha introdotto ad aprile 2024 un sistema di voucher taxi a prezzo fisso per i tragitti verso il centro.
- Il trasporto di superficie in città sono le sette linee tranviarie di Rīgas Satiksme più autobus e filobus; i tram circolano a Riga dal 1882.
- By day, bus 22 links Riga airport with the centre in about 40 minutes, stopping at Grecinieku iela beside the Old Town and at Autoosta by the international bus station; towards the airport, board at Centrala Stacija or 13. janvara iela.

- Riga's public transport operator Rigas satiksme sells 90 minute tickets and 24 hour, 3 day and 5 day tickets, and also lets passengers pay for trips with a smartphone.
- The Riga Unified Ticket covers a single Vivi train journey in zones A to E and then a 90 minute ticket on Rigas satiksme buses, trams and trolleybuses, which saves one euro against buying the two separately.
