- Arequipa's airport sits at about 2,600 m above sea level.
- It is the main gateway for Peru's second-largest city, handling about 1.98 million passengers in 2023.
- Arequipa's public transport is bus-based; the city has modernised its bus fleet and introduced electric buses.
- Two paved roads reach Rodriguez Ballon airport: the Ayacucho and Puente Grau route of about 8 km, and the longer Avenida Parra Uchumayo bypass of about 16 km.
- Arequipa's SIT buses charge S/1.30 in cash, S/1.50 through the Yape payment app and S/2.00 at night. The municipal transport office can fine operators up to S/2,750 for overcharging.
- Arequipa's flat S/1.30 bus fare is due to be replaced by zone based pricing once the SIT system reaches its planned operative phase, according to the city's municipal transport manager.
- Six Arequipa SIT bus concessionaires lost the right to charge S/1.30 and had to revert to S/1.00 from 3 August 2026, after the municipality found they had not met the agreed conditions.
