Andorra: operatori mobili
- Andorra Telecom: Andorra Telecom is a state owned company constituted in June 2015 under Law 33/2014. The law gives it the exclusive right to provide data, internet and fixed and mobile telephony in Andorra, whatever the technology, and to run all electronic communications networks and their links abroad, so it runs the country's only mobile network.
- 2025 results: Andorra Telecom closed 2025 with operating revenue of 84.5 million euros and invested 11.8 million, mainly in its networks. Contract mobile lines grew 5.7 percent, with more than 5,000 new lines, and it completed the expansion of 5G to 91 percent of the population.
- Roaming revenue: International roaming once brought in close to half of Andorra Telecom's turnover, about 50 percent in 2016. Its 2027 budget puts roaming at around 18 percent, because the domestic business has grown with the population and demand for digital services.
- International role: Andorra Telecom already acts as the country's technical contact point with the ITU on spectrum matters, and a Government decree in June 2026 also made it Andorra's notifying administration for satellite filings, supervising operators that use registrations notified under Andorra's responsibility.
Andorra: reti più vecchie
- Andorra Telecom announced in October 2024 a gradual 3G switch-off starting in October 2026. It found no customer phone supporting only 3G, but about 1,500 devices limited to 2G and 3G, which keep working at lower speed on 2G. No date has been set for switching off 2G.
- A pilot 3G switch-off in La Massana and Ordino caused no significant incidents. The shutdown runs zone by zone, 2G is unaffected, and phones set to 3G only fall back to 2G for calls and limited data, so Andorra Telecom advises setting network selection to automatic.
- Ahead of the 3G shutdown, Andorra Telecom has been approaching businesses and busy public venues about indoor coverage systems, since places with limited indoor coverage are where devices that depend on 3G are most likely to be affected.
Andorra: il 5G
- Andorra Telecom announced in 2019 that 5G would begin with a pilot in the urban area of Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany, using its existing 4G core at first and moving to a dedicated 5G core in a second phase.
- The first 5G phase went live in 2021 and the second added antennas in populated centres, with downloads of up to 2.5 Gbps and uploads around 150 Mbps. The 5G core needed for advanced features such as network slicing has been deferred until clearer use cases emerge.
- In 2025 Andorra Telecom added the 3.5 GHz band as an extra 5G capacity layer on its existing network, first used at Pal for La Vuelta. 5G now covers 91 percent of the population from 44 sites, including Encamp, La Massana, Arinsal, Grau Roig, Pas de la Casa, Canillo and Soldeu.
Andorra: note sulla rete
- Andorra Telecom sizes its high speed coverage by population rather than territory, aiming at the places where 91 percent of people live or work. In mountain areas and on hiking routes it says to expect 4G or 5G at lower speeds.
- Andorra Telecom offers VoLTE, which it calls Veu en HD, on its 4G network at no extra cost to its own customers. Calls between two users who both have it enabled carry clearer audio with background noise filtered out.
