Da sapere su Bruges
- Bruges non ha un aeroporto proprio; il più vicino è Ostend-Bruges International, a circa 25 km dal centro città.
- L'aeroporto di Ostend-Bruges è soprattutto un aeroporto merci e i suoi voli passeggeri sono principalmente charter e servizi vacanzieri dei tour operator, quindi la maggior parte dei visitatori di Bruges arriva invece da Brussels Airport.
- Bruges non ha metropolitana né rete tranviaria; il trasporto pubblico locale sono gli autobus De Lijn.
- L'unico trasporto pubblico che l'aeroporto di Ostend-Bruges indica sul proprio sito è la linea di autobus De Lijn 60, che va a Ostend e non a Bruges, quindi per arrivare a Bruges bisogna cambiare e prendere il treno alla stazione di Ostend.
- Il porto di Bruges non è in città: si trova a Zeebrugge, sulla costa, il cui nome significa 'Bruges sul mare'.
- Get off at the station called Brugge, which is within walking distance of the old town, rather than Brugge Sint-Pieters in the northeast. From Brussels-South three trains an hour head for Bruges, bound for Ostend, Knokke or Blankenberge, and the ride takes about an hour.
- Brussels Airport's railway station sits beneath the arrivals and departures halls and has a direct train to Bruges every hour. Bruges taxi firms quote flat fares with prior booking: 200 euros from Brussels Airport, 250 from Charleroi and 70 from Ostend-Bruges.
- From Ostend-Bruges Airport the bus to Ostend station takes 15 minutes, and at least three trains an hour then run to Bruges between 6am and 10pm in about 15 minutes.
- Buses 1 and 2 link Bruges station with 't Zand, the Markt area and other central stops every five minutes, running until about 11pm and until about 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets bought on board are contactless only.
- Street parking in central Bruges is capped at four hours, and paying by text message only works with a Belgian mobile number. A Centrum-Station car park ticket includes free bus rides into the centre for up to four people.
- Coaches from Charleroi Airport, Flixbus and other international lines stop at a terminal behind Brugge station on the Spoorwegstraat roundabout, and the Charleroi shuttle times its departures to arriving and departing flights.
- Blue-bike shared bicycles wait at Brugge, Zeebrugge-Strand and Zeebrugge-Dorp stations, and Hoppy e-bikes, booked in an app, can be picked up in Bruges and left in Blankenberge, Knokke-Heist or Damme.
- Bruges station is one of the 27 Belgian stations with free SNCB wifi in the main hall, corridors and on the platforms, open to anyone who creates a MySNCB account.
- Blue Zones ringing the old town allow four hours of free parking with a parking disc between 9am and 6pm, Sundays and public holidays included, a cheaper option than the paid above-ground spaces inside the centre.
