Why one balance beats four plans
Because nobody in a family of four uses a quarter of the data each. One person navigates all day, one streams on the coach, two barely open a phone. Four separate plans means the navigator runs out on day three while three plans sit unused, and on a seller of expiring tickets those three are simply gone. One balance moves the data to whoever is using it, with no transfer and no request.
Who counts against the eight
People, not devices. Up to eight people can draw on one balance. Your own tablet, laptop and watch are devices on your account and they do not count, so a family of four with a tablet each is four of the eight rather than eight of the eight.
Setting a cap, and why you probably should
A cap per person is optional and it is the difference between sharing a balance and lending your wallet. Set one for a teenager who streams, leave it off for a partner. The cap is checked against the billed figure that reconciles every 60 seconds, so it stops usage rather than reporting it afterwards.
- Open Pool in the app
- Invite by link. The other person does not need an account first
- Set a cap for each person, or leave it open
- Change or remove anybody at any time. Data already used is not clawed back
One balance against four plans
| Situation | Four separate plans | One pooled balance |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy user runs out | They buy again while others sit unused | They keep going on the shared balance |
| Light user's leftovers | Stranded on their own plan | Available to everyone, and they do not expire |
| Someone joins the trip late | A new plan, a new install | An invite link, and they are on |
| Managing it | Four purchases, four balances | One balance, one cap per person if you want one |
Pooling costs nothing extra. The saving is in landing in a larger wallet tier, where the per gigabyte price is lower.
What we do automatically and what needs you
We move data to whoever is using it, apply each person's cap in real time, and let you top up somebody else's phone from a different country. What needs you is the invite, and one decision per person about a cap. There is no approval step and no waiting on our side.
The numbers, and where they came from
Eight people on one balance. Wallet gigabytes run from $4.89 at 1 GB to $1.36 a gigabyte at 50 GB, so a family buying together lands in a cheaper tier than four people buying separately. Orbislo One Pro at $49.99 a month includes 50 GB and pooling for eight, which is the cheaper route for a household that travels several times a year.
Pooling against a subscription
Pooling costs nothing and saves money by putting one household into a larger wallet tier, where the per gigabyte price is lower. A subscription saves money a different way, by attaching a standing discount and a higher earn rate to everything else you buy. Orbislo One Pro at $49.99 a month includes 50 GB, pools for eight, and earns Miles at 8% rather than the base 5%. The rule of thumb is simple: if the household buys more than one large tier a year, the subscription wins, and if you travel once, pooling on the wallet wins.
