The West Bank monuments are reached across the Nile: the local (National) ferry still runs from a landing opposite Luxor Temple, and a bridge opened in 1998 a few kilometres upstream of the town gives road access.
Luxor railway station is about 400 m from Luxor Temple, with a morning train and a sleeper among several daily services along the Nile between Cairo and Aswan.
The airport is only 6 km east of the city but has no public bus, minibus or rail link, so arrivals depend on the taxi rank, pre-booked hotel transfers or ride-hailing that needs working mobile data.
Luxor International is run by the Egyptian Airport Company and mixes domestic flights to Cairo, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh with heavily seasonal European charter and scheduled services.
