Port Louis에서 알아두면 좋은 것
- The airport is 48 km southeast of Port Louis at Plaine Magnien, so the transfer crosses most of the island rather than being a short city hop.
- Mauritius's Metro Express light rail opened in 2020 and runs from Port Louis inland to Rose Hill, Quatre Bornes and Curepipe, but it does not reach the airport.
- Port Louis Victoria is the northern terminus of the Metro Express and doubles as the main rail-bus interchange for the capital.
- Airport wifi is the easy option on arrival. The network 3Hours@MauritiusAirport needs no password and no registration, only acceptance of the onscreen terms.
- Mauritius requires every SIM to be registered. A visitor must give passport or travel document details plus proof of an address in Mauritius, and the operator takes a colour photograph checked against the document.
- SIM registration happens at the point of purchase from one of the three licensed mobile operators, my.t, Emtel and Chili. The regulator states there are no exceptions.
- Giving false information when registering a SIM in Mauritius carries a fine of up to 50,000 rupees and up to one year in prison.
- Bus route 198 runs every 15 minutes between Port Louis Victoria Square bus station and Mahebourg bus station via the airport. End to end the route takes about 85 minutes.
- Two other airport bus routes exist. Route 9 runs every 10 minutes to Curepipe Jan Palach South in about 70 minutes and route 10 every 20 minutes to Riviere des Gallets in about 105 minutes.
- The airport bus stop is in the car park, not at the terminal kerb, and the airport taxi counter is at Level 0 in the Tour Operators Hall opposite the customs zone exit.
- Metro Express fares use a MECard prepaid smart card or a single use ticket bought from electronic ticketing machines at every station. You tap on at entry and tap off at exit.
- Metro Express does not list contactless bank card or phone app payment. An adult MECard costs 150 rupees including 100 rupees of credit, and Senior and Priority cards are free.
- The Metro Express line runs 30 km with 22 stations between Port Louis and Curepipe. Phase 2 added 12.6 km and 12 stations from Rose Hill to Curepipe.
- Mauritius Telecom lists the SAFE, LION and LION2, MARS and T3 submarine cables as having a point of presence in Mauritius, linking the island to Africa, Europe and Asia.
- The regulator granted 5G licences to Cellplus, Emtel and Mahanagar Telecom Mauritius on 17 June 2021, with 300 MHz released across the 2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands.
- The government Wi-Fi Mauritius programme, run by the National Computer Board, covers 350 free wifi hotspots and 100 public internet access points around the island.
- Money changers sit in the check in halls and in the arrival Tour Operators and Hotels Hall, and there are MCB, SBM and ABSA ATMs in the terminal.
