- Sliema sits directly across Marsamxett Harbour from Valletta and is reached either by a short harbour ferry or by bus around the inlet.
- Sliema shares Malta's single airport at Luqa; there is no separate airfield and no rail link anywhere on the island.
- Malta's public wifi network is called MCAfreeWiFi. Connecting opens a splash page that asks only for agreement to the terms plus the user's age, gender and nationality, with no phone number.
- Sliema has five listed MCA free wifi hotspots: Gnien l-Indipendenza, Pjazza Sant'Anna, the primary school, Gnien Qui-Si-Sana and Triq Bisazza.
- A ticket can be bought on any Malta Public Transport bus with cash or a contactless bank card, so no tallinja card is needed. Tickets last two hours and allow free transfers.
- A single Malta bus journey on day routes costs 2.00 euros in winter and 2.50 euros in summer, and the operator states that all its buses carry free wifi.
- The Sliema to Valletta ferry runs direct with no intermediate stops and is free to holders of a personalised tallinja card.
- The Sliema to Valletta crossing is worked as a catamaran service by Valletta Ferry Services, with a day single at 3 euros and sailings from early morning into the evening, later in summer.
- A fast ferry from Sliema to Bugibba opened in May 2026, free to tallinja card holders, with a paid onward connection to Gozo alongside the existing Sliema to Valletta boat.
