Why a balance each beats four expiring plans
Because nobody in a family of four uses a quarter of the data each. One person navigates all day, one streams on the coach, two barely open a phone. On expiring tickets, the unused share of each plan is simply gone when the window closes. On Orbislo every person's gigabytes stay in their own wallet with no expiry date, so the light user's leftovers are still there for the next trip, and the heavy user tops up in about ten seconds on the line they already have.
One phone as the family hotspot
For a short trip, the simplest arrangement is often one phone carrying the data. Turn on its hotspot and the rest of the family joins its wifi. Tethering is included on every plan at the same allowance, the traffic comes out of that one line at the same rate, and nobody else installs anything. It works best when everybody stays together, which on a city weekend they usually do.
A gift code for each person who wants their own data
When people split up during the day, or the trip runs longer than a weekend, each person is better off with a line of their own. A gift code is how you pay for it. It carries gigabytes rather than money, and the person who redeems it gets the data in their own wallet, where it never expires and works in every destination we sell.
- Buy a gift code in the app or on the gift page
- Send the code. The other person does not need an account first
- They redeem it, and the gigabytes land in their own wallet
- Their line installs in one tap the first time they use the balance abroad
Four expiring plans against a balance each
| Situation | Four expiring plans | Orbislo, a balance each |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy user runs out | They buy a whole new plan | They top up in about ten seconds on the line they already have |
| Light user's leftovers | Gone when the window closes | Still in their own wallet for the next trip |
| Someone joins the trip late | A new plan, a new install | A gift code, then one tap to install their line |
| A short trip together | Four purchases, four installs | One phone's hotspot, and nothing else to install |
Tethering costs nothing extra on any plan, and wallet gigabytes never expire, so neither arrangement leaves paid data behind.
What we do automatically and what needs you
We credit a redeemed code to the right wallet, issue each person's line for the destination the first time they use their balance there, and land later refills on that same line. What needs you is the purchase and sending the code. There is no approval step and no waiting on our side.
The numbers, and where they came from
Wallet gigabytes run from $4.89 at 1 GB to $1.36 a gigabyte at 50 GB, and nothing on the ladder expires. A parent who buys a larger tier and runs the family hotspot from it pays less per gigabyte than four people buying small plans. Orbislo One at $19.99 a month adds 10 GB to the balance every month and One Pro at $49.99 adds 29 GB, and unused months stack, which suits a household that travels several times a year.
A subscription against buying as you go
Buying as you go costs nothing between trips and suits a family that travels once a year. A subscription works a different way: it credits a fixed allowance to your balance every month, the allowance never expires, and Miles accrue at a higher tier rate from the first month. Orbislo One at $19.99 a month includes 10 GB and One Pro at $49.99 includes 29 GB. The rule of thumb is simple: if the household uses more than a large tier's worth of data across a year, the subscription is the one to price up, and if you travel once, the wallet alone wins.
