• SETAR: SETAR, founded in 1986, is Aruba's national telecommunications company. It held a monopoly on telecom services until its privatisation in 2003, after which the Aruban government still owned 100 percent of its shares.
• SETAR, network history: SETAR introduced GSM in 2001, international roaming in 2002, HSPA+ in 2011 and LTE in 2014. In 2022 it upgraded its mobile switching centre and radio access network to newer technology.
• SETAR, 4.5G Pro: Nokia runs SETAR's island wide 4.5G Pro network, and SETAR completed a network modernisation with Nokia in June 2019 that sharply improved its downlink and uplink speed rankings.

• SETAR is switching off its 2G network from 1 August 2026. Old phones, alarm systems and payment terminals that work only on 2G stop working, and SETAR expects to switch off 3G in 2029.

• On 19 December 2019 SETAR signed an end to end 5G deal with Nokia, covering upgraded radio access, a modernised core and massive MIMO 5G at the first selected sites. It was Nokia's first end to end 5G deal in Latin America.

• In June 2026 SETAR launched an LTE Cat M1 network, a low power layer on its 4G network for connected devices with better indoor coverage. Its first product on the network was a fleet management service.
• Aruba's international links run over submarine fibre: the Pan American cable reached Aruba in 1998 with a link to St. Croix, the Alonso de Ojeda cable connects it to Curaçao, and SETAR joined the Americas II cable in 2000.
• A mobile network concession in Aruba carries a one time fee of 7.2 million florins, plus an annual charge of 98,000 florins per megahertz held in the uplink bands, under the national telecommunications rights decree.
• Aruba's telecommunications directorate, DTZ, manages the radio spectrum, assigns frequencies and monitors their use, and acts as supervisor and expert for the whole field of wired and wireless electronic communications.
