- Astana's light metro opened on 16 May 2026: 18 stations over 22.4 km, running elevated from Nurly Zhol railway station to the airport. It was renamed Tarlan Astana on 2 July 2026.
- Kazakhstan abolished its second time zone on 1 March 2024, moving the whole country to UTC+5 with no daylight saving, so older schedules can be an hour out.
- Astana's trolleybus network was closed entirely in 2008; buses carry around 720,000 passengers a day across more than 60 lines.
- The airport is about 12 km southeast of the city centre and splits arrivals across two terminals, T1 international and T2 domestic.
