• Windhoek has two airports: Hosea Kutako International 45 km east of the city, and Eros Airport just 5 km south of the CBD for domestic and regional flights.
• There is no rail or bus rapid transit from Hosea Kutako; shuttles, taxis and rental cars are the only ways in over the 45 km.
• Domestic hops to Luderitz, Ondangwa, Oranjemund and Rundu leave from Eros in the city, not from the international airport.
• SIM registration is compulsory in Namibia under Section 77 of the Communications Act, with the regulations published in the Government Gazette of 15 March 2021.
• Since 1 January 2023 operators must take a buyer's personal data, including a residential address, and a valid identification document before a SIM card is sold or activated.
• A new customer's details must be registered within three months of the date of sale, and unregistered SIM cards are deactivated.
• The regulator CRAN said Namibia joined 185 countries with mandatory SIM registration on 1 January 2023, making it one of the last in Africa to do so.
• City of Windhoek bus smart cards are free of charge to first time users and cost N$45 to replace. They are issued at the Municipal Head Office cash hall.
• Smart cards are available at every City of Windhoek office customer care counter, the same desks where residents pay their municipal bills.
• Windhoek municipal buses run on shifts rather than all day. Morning trips start at 05:30, afternoon trips at 13:30 and 15:30, and peak trips at 16:30 with the last at 17:30.
• The city's Public Transportation Division runs the municipal buses and publishes bus timetables, bus hire and taxi rank information.
• Hosea Kutako International lists a bureau de change, a tourism information centre, restaurants, lounges, postal services, car rentals, parking and tax refund facilities.
• Eros Airport in the city lists restaurants, car rental, vehicle parking, refuelling, ground handling, air traffic control, Namibian Police, and customs and immigration on request.
• Namibia counted 3,022,401 people at its 2023 census, a population density of 3.7 people per square kilometre, in what was the country's first digital population count.
• Khomas, the region that contains Windhoek, had a population of 494,605 at the 2023 census.
• City of Windhoek community libraries offer computer training and computer accessibility alongside study space, book lending and photocopying.
