- Salalah's traffic is strongly seasonal: the khareef monsoon from June to September turns the landscape green and drew more than 600,000 visitors in 2017.
- Gulf carriers including Etihad, Flynas, Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways serve Salalah only seasonally, mainly July to September.
- The current Salalah terminal opened on 15 June 2015 and is Oman's second international airport, 5.5 km from the city centre.
- Ooredoo sells its Tourist SIM only to visitors and business travellers. Omani nationals and Omani resident cardholders are excluded, and other nationalities must present an original passport for verification.
- Ooredoo kiosks in the arrivals halls of Muscat International and Salalah International airports sell Visitor Packs, so an arriving traveller can be connected before leaving the terminal.
- Ooredoo's OMR 5 Visitor Pack carries 3 GB of data, 50 minutes and 50 SMS over 10 days. The OMR 10 pack carries 8 GB, 50 minutes and 50 SMS over 15 days.
- Omantel sells its Tourist Pack at any Omantel outlet or partner on presentation of a valid passport.
- Omantel says its prepaid visitor packages can be taken as an eSIM through the Omantel app, at its retail outlets, or at its dedicated counters at Muscat and Salalah airports.
- Omantel has put public wifi at Dhofar locations including Eteen Square, Awaqad Park and Awdhat Al Madhi, and has upgraded and redistributed stations around tourist sites and high traffic areas.
- Ooredoo's Khareef Tourist Plans start at OMR 5 for a 10 day stay and run up to a 20 day plan with unlimited data. They are bought through the Ooredoo app or at an Ooredoo store.

- Salalah is a landing point for the 2Africa subsea cable, a system spanning about 45,000 km and connecting 33 countries across Africa, Asia and Europe.
- Ooredoo built a Tier 3 data centre at Salalah with capacity for more than 500 racks, one of three raised at Barka, Salalah and Sohar to host the 2Africa cable landing equipment.
- Ooredoo states its Visitor Packs are on sale at Salalah Airport as well as at all its stores across Oman, and that it operates one of the widest mobile networks across Salalah and Dhofar.
