Melbourneで知っておきたいこと
- 空港の無料 Wi-Fi は Qantas が運営する Terminal 1 には届いていないため、Qantas の国内線を利用する旅客は使えません。
- SkyBus の市内行き急行は Southern Cross Station が終点で、車内で無料 Wi-Fi が使えます。
- 空港は、Tullamarine Freeway 経由の道路で CBD の北西約 25 km にあるとしています。Wikipedia はこの距離を約 22 km としています。
- Melbourne Airport での配車サービスの乗車には、GST を含む 1 回あたり $4.48 の空港利用料がかかり、事業者はこれを旅客に転嫁する場合があります。
- The underground City Loop has mobile coverage through all its stations and tunnels, delivered with 10.5 km of leaky feeder cable in the tunnels and about 100 antennas on platforms and in stations.
- The Metro Tunnel opened on 30 November 2025 with five new underground stations beneath Swanston Street, linking the Sunbury line with the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines and bypassing Flinders Street. Full service began on 1 February 2026.
- Since June 2026 full-fare passengers can tap on Melbourne trains and trams with a bank card, phone or smartwatch instead of a myki. Concession travellers still need a myki, and buses were due to follow.
- Yarra Trams advises myki users not to touch on or off when travelling only inside the city's Free Tram Zone.
- Route 35, the City Circle, is a free heritage tram using W-class trams past Parliament House, Docklands and Federation Square. It is not served by low-floor trams.
- Yarra Trams flags six routes as night routes: 19, 67, 75, 86, 96 and 109. They cover corridors such as East Brunswick to St Kilda Beach and Box Hill to Port Melbourne.
- SkyBus now lists the Melbourne City Express as running from 4am to 1am, with an average journey of 30 minutes. From 20 September 2026 buses leave every 10 minutes at peak and up to every 15 minutes otherwise.
- Rideshare drivers collect Qantas, Virgin Australia and international passengers from lane 1 of the forecourt, and Jetstar, Rex and Link Airways passengers from level 2 of the T4 Ground Transport Hub. Scheduled rides cannot be booked for airport pick-ups.
- Taxi ranks sit on the ground floor outside T1 and T2 and in the T4 Transport Hub. The airport warns against accepting a taxi offer anywhere other than these designated ranks.
- Regional, direct, group and charter coaches all leave from the Terminal 4 Transport Hub, run by operators that Public Transport Victoria and the airport authorise to serve destinations across Victoria.
- Victoria's short stay levy adds 7.5 percent to the booking fee for stays under 28 consecutive days in places such as holiday rentals, collected by platforms like Airbnb. Hotels, motels and hostels are excluded.
