Valparaisoで知っておきたいこと
- Valparaiso 自体に商業空港はありません。120 km 離れた Santiago (SCL) に到着し、そこから Route 68 を車で約 1 時間 30 分、または Alameda か Pajaritos のターミナルからバスで 2 時間近くかかります。
- 地元で「Metro」と呼ばれるものは地下鉄ではありません。Limache-Puerto 線 (Merval) は 5 つの都市を結ぶ 20 駅、43 km の通勤鉄道 1 路線で、Vina del Mar の Miramar から Chorrillos までの 5 km の地下区間を含みます。
- 港と丘の間の移動はケーブルカーになります。ascensores は 16 基が現存し、うち 15 基は公共で国定記念物に指定されています。World Monuments Fund は 1996 年に、このシステムを世界で最も危機にある 100 の歴史的遺産の一つに挙げました。
- Chile は 2026 年 8 月 20 日からプリペイド携帯の登録を義務化しました。すべてのプリペイド回線は記名の契約者に紐づける必要があり、通信事業者は氏名、住所、国民 ID またはパスポート番号を記録します。そのため現地のプリペイド SIM の購入には本人確認が伴います。
- On the Limache to Puerto line, first trains leave Puerto at 06:00 on weekdays, 08:00 on Saturdays and 09:00 on Sundays and holidays. The last weekday departure from Puerto is at 22:30, and every station shuts at 23:30.
- The train has its own Tarjeta de Transporte, sold at station ticket offices, but the turnstiles also accept Visa and Mastercard bank cards, phone wallets and the BancoEstado QR code.
- The same Visa and Mastercard cards, and the BancoEstado Pasaje QR Conecta app, now pay on the electric buses, trolleybuses and ascensores tied to the train service.
- Ride an ascensor after the train on the same Tarjeta de Transporte and the climb costs CLP 50 instead of the usual CLP 100.
- Trolleybuses still work the flat streets of central Valparaiso. Switching between trolley and train on the Tarjeta de Transporte adds just CLP 50 to the train fare, if you change within 120 minutes and hold at least CLP 270.
- At Limache the train meets buses to Quillota, Limache Viejo and La Calera at no extra charge: leave through the dedicated transfer turnstiles within 120 minutes, using the card you started with.
- TurBus runs direct coaches from Vina del Mar and Valparaiso to Santiago airport, with six departures Monday to Saturday from 05:30 and six on Sundays, so you avoid changing at a Santiago terminal.
- Chile's tourism board advises sticking to lit, busy streets at night, or taking safe transport between the hills and the centre, and picks the Reina Victoria and El Peral ascensores for their views over the bay.
- Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepcion hold the city's cobbled lanes, painted houses and galleries, and La Sebastiana, Pablo Neruda's house museum, sits on the hills above the port.
