Da Nang airport sits inside the city: Vietnam Airlines puts it approximately 3 kilometres southwest of the city centre, 10 to 15 minutes by taxi in normal traffic. Vietnam's national tourism board gives about five kilometres.
DAD is the arrival airport for central Vietnam generally: Vietnam's national tourism board states it is 29 kilometres from Hoi An Ancient Town and 98 kilometres from Hue.
The road north from Da Nang to Hue runs through the 6,280 m Hai Van Tunnel on National Route 1, opened 5 June 2005, which cut 20 km off the old Hai Van Pass route.
The airport has two separate terminals, one international and one domestic; international Terminal 2 was added in 2017.
