- Antigua has replaced the paper arrival card with ArriveAntigua.com. The immigration and customs form can be filled in on a phone up to 72 hours before landing, and it returns a QR code to show on arrival, so keep a screenshot in case you land without signal.
- Taxis at V. C. Bird are approved by the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority and wait just outside the terminal. Drivers must be in uniform and display their badge in the front window.
- Antigua's taxis run on fixed fares rather than meters, and the official rates are posted at the airport and at taxi stands, so the price to St John's can be checked before you get in.
- Immigration at V. C. Bird has separate queues for residents and visitors, and mixed parties may join either line.
- To book a cab ahead, the Airport Authority lists phone numbers for the Mill Reef Taxi Association and the United Taxi Association, which serve arriving and departing passengers daily.
- The airport has no currency exchange desk and no left luggage room, according to the Airport Authority, so plan cash and bags before arrival.
- Hertz, Avis, Budget, Thrifty and several local firms serve the airport, with free shuttles to their rental lots. Visitors pay EC$50 for a local driving permit, and traffic keeps to the left.
- Island buses run from about 5:30am to 6pm, linking St John's with the surrounding villages from two terminals in town, the East Bus Station and the West Bus Station.
- Sea Bridge Ferries runs the Barbuda Express to Barbuda every day, a crossing of about 90 minutes. Some sailings board at Jolly Harbour Marina rather than St John's, and captains cancel trips when the sea turns rough.
- Barbuda can also be reached by air from V. C. Bird. The small airport at Codrington has a 500 m runway, and the Airport Authority lists ABM Air, Caribbean Helicopters, Fly Montserrat, St. Barth Commuter and Trans Anguilla Airways for the hop.
