Chiang Mai 值得知道的事
- Chiang Mai is the northern terminus of the Thai railway system; the ten daily trains from Bangkok take about 12 to 15 hours and most run overnight.
- The airport sits inside Mueang Chiang Mai district in Suthep subdistrict, immediately southwest of the old walled city, and is Thailand's fourth-busiest.
- Chiang Mai International is a joint public and military facility managed by Airports of Thailand, so parts of the field are restricted.
- Chiang Mai airport free wifi uses the SSID AOT Airport Free Wi-Fi by NT. You enter an email address and accept the terms. No local phone number or SMS code is required, and each session lasts 60 minutes.
- Airports of Thailand offers three hours of free high speed wifi on the SSID AOT Sawasdee Highspeed WiFi by NT at its six airports including Chiang Mai. You register in the SAWASDEE by AOT app with an email address.
- New arrivals at an AOT airport get ten minutes of connectivity from the Free Airport Wi-Fi menu purely to download the SAWASDEE by AOT app before the longer free session starts.
- The RTC Chiang Mai City Bus charges 30 baht per trip whether the journey is short or long. Two loops serve the airport, the R3 Red Line left loop and the R3 Yellow Line right loop.
- Chiang Mai airport shuttle buses run three fixed fare routes. A1 to Nimmanhaemin Road, Huay Kaew Road and the city moat and A2 to Mahidol Road and the Night Bazaar both cost 40 baht. A3 costs 60 baht.
- The airport taxi counter, which sells flat rate rides so the fare is known in advance, is at Entrance 1 on floor 1 of the Main Terminal in the public area.
- Metered taxis leaving Chiang Mai airport add a mandatory 50 baht for the driver on top of the meter fare, in line with an announcement by the Ministry of Transport.
- Chiang Mai airport lists Grab Taxi, Grab Car and Just Grab. Passengers may request a ride from any area within the airport but must use the designated pick up and drop off points.
- Under NBTC measures against technology crime, a person without Thai nationality may hold at most three SIM cards per service provider, and identity is verified in person, primarily with a passport.
- A registered Thai SIM must be activated within 60 days. A SIM left unactivated past that deadline needs in person reverification before it can be switched on.
- TH Wi-Fi is a Ministry of Digital Economy and Society scheme run with National Telecom. One registration gives the same username and password across participating public and private internet providers, on the web portal and in the app.
- Chiang Mai airport began operating in 1934 as Suthep Airport and now has two terminals, one for domestic and one for international passengers.
