Why nothing expires, mechanically

Because we sell you a balance rather than a ticket. An expiring plan is a validity window attached to a purchase, so the seller books the revenue when the window closes whether you travelled or not. A wallet balance has no window to close. The gigabytes sit in your account and are drawn down when a session is billed, which is the only event that reduces them.

The one clock in the product, and the warning before it

There is a single exception and it is not a data expiry. Rollover pauses after 24 months of complete account inactivity, meaning no purchases, no sessions, no sign ins for two full years. We email you at 21 months, three months before it can happen, and opening the app resets the clock. There is no silent expiry anywhere in this product.

What everyone else does instead

Nobody in this category sells data that does not expire except us, and we checked. Four sellers offer a balance that does not expire, which is a different promise: the money stays, and the gigabytes you spend it on still run to a clock. Roamless markets credits that never expire and then sets an inactivity clock at 12 months in the terms. Airalo, Holafly and Saily all sell windows.

The only row with a clock is the last one, and it carries three months of warning.

What happens to a country pack when it ends

Whatever is left flows back into your wallet automatically. That is the rule that makes a pack safe to buy: it can never be the losing choice against the wallet, so you do not have to model your trip before you spend $4.89. You will see the returned gigabytes in the wallet balance, not in the pack, which is where people usually look first.

The numbers, and where they came from

A comparable 10 GB expiring ticket from the largest sellers was $29.00 when we last checked the listings on 2026-08-24. Ours is $15.89 and it has no window. The gap is not the whole story: on destination count we reach 145 against Airalo's 169, and they win that one.

Why the rest of the category makes data expire

Because breakage is revenue. When a plan carries a 30 day window, every gigabyte you paid for and did not use is booked as margin at the end of it, and the seller does not have to buy the wholesale behind it. That is not a conspiracy, it is the standard model, and it is why a headline price of $17.50 for 5 GB can be sustainable for a seller whose customers typically use three. We gave up that revenue line, which is exactly why our headline prices are not the lowest you will see. Ours is $9.89 for the same 5 GB and it stays yours.

So my leftover data is still there next year?

Yes, and the year after. The only thing that pauses it is 24 months of complete account inactivity, and we email you at 21 months. If you use the app at all, even to look, nothing happens.

Does an unused day pass expire?

A day pass is a day, by definition, and that day starts when you activate it rather than when you buy it. Buy passes in advance safely. Activate them when you land.

Do Miles expire?

No. One Mile is one cent, fixed in the terms, and they do not expire. Nomad expires points after six months, which is the more common arrangement in this category.

If nothing expires, how do you make money?

On the data you actually use, and on subscriptions. Sellers of expiring tickets make a meaningful share of their margin on data that was paid for and never used. We gave that up on purpose, which is also why our headline prices are not the lowest you will see.

What happens to my balance if I close my account?

Closing an account is a refund request, not an expiry. Ask before you close and unused balance goes back to the original payment method, less anything already consumed.

Does an unused balance stop me qualifying for a Miles tier?

No. Tiers are set by what you spent over a rolling twelve months, not by what you used. Buying a large tier and travelling later counts on the day you paid.

Is there any state where I lose data without warning?

No, and that is the point of this page. The only mechanism is the 24 month inactivity pause, and it is preceded by an email at 21 months. There is no other clock anywhere in the product.
