Why Android instructions never quite match your phone

Because there is no Android. There is Samsung's One UI, Google's build, Xiaomi's HyperOS, OnePlus, Motorola and Huawei, and each one puts the eSIM entry somewhere different and moves it between versions. A generic walkthrough is wrong for most readers on the day they read it, so ours is per model and built from installs that happened rather than from documentation.

The fastest way to find the menu on any Android

Open Settings and use the search box at the top. Type eSIM. On every build we have notes for, that lands you on the right screen in one step, which is faster than any menu path we could publish and immune to the manufacturer moving it next quarter.

  • Samsung: Settings, Connections, SIM manager, Add eSIM
  • Google Pixel: Settings, Network and internet, SIMs, Download a SIM instead
  • Xiaomi, OnePlus and Motorola: search Settings for eSIM
  • Huawei: often absent. Most models sold after 2020 removed eSIM entirely

When the download prompt does not appear

Same four causes as iPhone, with one Android specific addition: a few operator branded units shipped with eSIM disabled in firmware even though the model supports it. Google's Pixel 4 is the known case.

  • A carrier lock, which blocks every profile and not only ours
  • An operator firmware build with eSIM switched off
  • No free profile slot. Delete an unused one and retry
  • A dropped download. Retry on a stable connection, at no cost, since the failed attempt is already refunded

Where each brand hides the eSIM menu

BrandPathKnown catch
SamsungSettings, Connections, SIM managerThe add entry is at the bottom of the SIM list, below the physical SIM
GoogleSettings, Network and internet, SIMsSome carrier branded Pixel 4 units shipped with eSIM disabled
XiaomiSettings, then search for eSIMMoved between HyperOS versions. Search rather than navigate
OnePlus and MotorolaSettings, then search for eSIMWording differs by region on the same build
HuaweiSettings, Mobile network, SIM managementMost models sold after 2020 have no eSIM at all

If your build does not match a row, search the settings app. That works on every build we have notes for.

What we do automatically and what needs you

We read the model and Android version and tell you before you pay whether the install will work on that build. We refund a failed provisioning attempt inside 60 seconds. You have to do two things afterwards: turn on Roaming for the Orbislo line, and set Orbislo as the SIM for mobile data. Android buries the second one under SIM manager or Mobile network depending on the build.

The numbers, and where they came from

Install notes cover 67 models across 7 brands: Apple, Google, Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Motorola and Huawei. They come from real installs, because a spec sheet has never told us where a manufacturer moved the menu. Most Android installs finish in under a minute on a stable connection.

Three things to check before you tap install

Android installs fail for environmental reasons far more often than for software ones, and all three are checkable in a minute.

  • Battery above twenty percent. Some builds cancel a profile download in battery saver mode without saying why.
  • A stable connection you are not about to walk away from. The download cannot resume.
  • At least one free eSIM slot, checked in SIM manager rather than assumed. Old trips leave profiles behind.

よくある質問

My Android has no eSIM menu anywhere. Is it broken?
Probably not broken, probably not supported. Check the devices page for your exact model. Huawei is the common case: most models sold after 2020 removed eSIM, and a Mate 40 Pro has none at all.
Do I need to remove my physical SIM?
No. The physical SIM and the eSIM run side by side. Set Orbislo as the SIM for mobile data and leave the physical one for calls and texts on your home number.
Where is the roaming switch on Android?
Under the Orbislo line itself, in Settings, Network and internet, SIMs, Orbislo. It is a per line switch, so turning it on does nothing to your home SIM.
The download stalled at ninety percent. What now?
An eSIM profile is a single download that cannot resume. Cancel, move to a stable connection and retry. If provisioning actually failed you have already been refunded within 60 seconds and the retry costs nothing.
Can I install on a second Android and share the balance?
Yes. Devices on your own account are free to add and do not count against the eight people you can pool with. Each device installs the Passport once.
Does a factory reset delete my eSIM?
It deletes the profile from the phone, yes. It does not touch your account or your balance, so you reinstall the Passport afterwards and everything is where it was. Reinstalling is free.
