- The airport says wifi is free throughout Grantley Adams, with hotspots across the terminal. The departures terminal also has four free charging stations for 120 volt plugs, and payphones take local coins or international credit cards.
- Barbados immigration will not admit a visitor who cannot give the full address where they are staying, and every arrival must hand in a completed immigration and customs form.
- Transport Board buses need the exact fare of BDS$3.50 dropped into the farebox, and drivers give no change for anything larger, so carry coins before boarding in Bridgetown.
- Privately run minibuses are bright yellow with a blue stripe and charge the same BDS$3.50 fare as government buses. Because they only follow set routes, check the destination shown in the bottom left corner of the windscreen before getting on.
- Route taxis known as ZRs are white minivans with a maroon stripe and ZR on the number plate, running fixed routes numbered one to eleven. Ordinary taxis have no meters, so agree the fare before the ride starts.
- Visitors who want to drive need a temporary Barbados permit, issued by the Licensing Authority or at approved hire car agencies against a valid home licence. The airport has three authorised rental firms, with desks to the left as you leave Arrivals.
- Travellers with too much luggage for a car are put in an airport taxi van, which is charged at one and a half times the normal fare, and the Airport Traffic Supervisor can confirm the rate before you leave.
- The Bridgetown Cruise Terminal gives passengers and crew free wifi through a splash page, and houses a Visitor Information Centre, a post office and customs and immigration offices alongside its 61 shops and bars.
- All airport passenger charges and the Barbados travel tax are built into the airline ticket, so nothing is paid separately at the airport. For the trip home, the airport asks travellers to check in three hours before international flights and two hours before regional ones.
- Grantley Adams has two airside information desks, one in Departures and one in Arrivals, where staff answer questions and can also help travellers who do not speak English.
- The Transport Board is in the final phase of moving paying passengers to automated cashless fares with TransPay travel cards, so the exact-change farebox may give way to tapping a card during a visit.
