Sous terre et dans le métro
Prague Metro compte 3 lignes.
- Every station and tunnel on Prague's three metro lines has had mobile signal since 22 December 2021, when Rajská zahrada and Černý Most on line B were the last to be connected. Calls, texts and LTE or 5G data work along the whole network.
- Signal in Prague's metro tunnels comes from a radiating cable clipped to the tunnel walls. The newer line A stretch through Bořislavka, Nádraží Veleslavín, Petřiny and Nemocnice Motol had its LTE network built in during construction instead.
- Prague Airport runs a free Wi-Fi network named Prague Airport WiFi Free, so you can get online in the terminal to buy a transport ticket or check your route into the city.
- Tickets in the PID Lítačka app need a data connection to pay and to activate, and only become valid one minute after activation. Inspectors can fine you for boarding inside that minute, so activate before the tram or train pulls in.
- Once a PID Lítačka app ticket is activated and its countdown is running, it stays valid with no internet connection at all, so losing signal on the way does not void it.
- Trams, city buses and trolleybuses carry a touchscreen ticket terminal, at the middle door on trams and the second door on buses. It sells 30-minute, 90-minute and 24-hour Prague tickets by contactless card only, valid at once without stamping.
- Paper tickets from machines, ticket offices and information centres must be stamped exactly once: before you reach the metro platform, or straight after boarding a tram or bus. A ticket never stamped, or stamped twice, is invalid.
- A 24-hour or 72-hour Prague ticket starts when first stamped and covers metro, trams, buses, ferries, trains within the city and the Petřín funicular. It does not cover the Airport Express or the vintage routes K, 41 and 42.
- Between midnight and 4:30 the metro shuts and night trams 90 to 99 run every 30 minutes. All of them meet at Lazarská stop and wait for each other so passengers can change lines, and night fares match daytime ones.
- Ferries numbered with a P cross the Vltava inside Prague and accept any PID ticket valid in the city. Lines P1 and P2 run all year, the rest only from late March to late October, and bicycles travel free.
