- Guests staying overnight in Interlaken, Matten, Unterseen, Wilderswil, Bonigen, Iseltwald, Ringgenberg and several nearby villages pay a visitor's tax. In return the host issues a personal guest card with free local public transport inside its area of validity.
- The Interlaken guest card also takes 20 percent off the BLS day pass for Lakes Thun and Brienz and the Schynige Platte railway, and 15 percent off the Harder funicular. Children from 6 to 16 get their own card.
- The Interlaken Pass is the digital guest card. Your host sends a registration link, the pass arrives by email at least 24 hours before check-in, and it can be stored in a phone wallet. Turning it down does not reduce the visitor's tax.
- To the Jungfraujoch, take the Bernese Oberland Railway from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald Terminal, the Eiger Express gondola 15 minutes to Eiger Glacier, then the Jungfrau Railway 26 minutes inside the Eiger and Monch to 3,454 metres. Jungfrau Railways gives about 1 hour 30 minutes overall.
- The Jungfraujoch audio tour runs on the Smartguide app and finds your position by Bluetooth, so bring headphones. The tour content can be downloaded in advance and played offline.
- Interlaken Tourism says trains to and from Bern, Zurich, Geneva and Basel run every half hour, with through links to Switzerland's airports.
- The Luzern-Interlaken Express crosses the Brunig Pass in about two hours from Lucerne to Interlaken Ost, and seat reservations are recommended. From Interlaken the GoldenPass route continues to Montreux.
- Lake Brienz boats leave the Interlaken Ost landing stage for Iseltwald, Giessbach falls and Brienz, running from 3 April to 6 December in 2026. The fleet includes the Lotschberg, a paddle steamer built in 1914.
- The guest card is personal. The main guest gives name, nationality, home address, email and dates of stay, and each companion adds name, date of birth, nationality and dates. Children under 6 get no card, as most services are free for them.
- From the Jungfraujoch station the Sphinx terrace, at 3,571 metres, looks down on the Aletsch Glacier, the longest in the Alps at 22 km. The glacier plateau keeps snow and ice all 365 days of the year.
- Lake Thun boats sail all year from the port beside Interlaken West station, calling at Beatenbucht, Oberhofen, Spiez and Thun.
