Conviene saber sobre Innsbruck
- Innsbruck no tiene metro ni ferrocarril subterráneo; la ciudad cuenta con una red de tranvía de vía métrica con cuatro líneas urbanas y dos regionales, además de líneas de autobús. Los trolebuses se retiraron en 2007.
- El único autobús del aeropuerto es la línea F de IVB, que va del aeropuerto a Rum Bahnhof atravesando la ciudad.
- La terminal no tiene pasarelas de embarque; los pasajeros embarcan y desembarcan con escaleras móviles en la pista.
- Las aproximaciones están condicionadas por el terreno alpino del entorno y el aeropuerto es un aeródromo de categoría C, así que los pilotos deben superar una formación especial antes de operar allí.
- Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof es la estación de tren principal del Tirol y conecta la ciudad con Alemania, el este y el oeste de Austria e Italia por el Brenner Pass.
- IVB runs 23 bus and tram routes in and beyond Innsbruck, plus Nightliner routes for night travel. Timetables, diversions and short-notice changes appear on its website, in the wegfinder app and on Smart Info displays at stops.
- Drivers on IVB buses and trams do not sell tickets. Buy before boarding from the online Ticket Shop, more than 100 mini ticket machines at stops, over 50 sales points, or about 550 city parking meters that also issue transit tickets.
- A printed Innsbruck single ticket lasts 45 minutes from validation on board, transfers included. Bought in the online Ticket Shop it lasts 90 minutes, but the mobile ticket must be validated before you step on and cannot be passed to someone else.
- The 24-Hour Ticket Innsbruck covers every IVB line for 24 hours from the chosen start time or from validation, and the 2Plus version takes up to two adults and three children on one ticket.
- Any ticket still valid when the journey begins, including 24-hour, weekly and monthly passes, is accepted on the Nightliner, along with semester and annual tickets.
- The IVB call and collect taxi carries you from a stop to your door for a flat 5.50 euros. It runs 11 pm to 6 am across the city, from 8 pm in Hotting and St. Nikolaus, and only serves stops with an ASTI sticker.
- Women can book the IVB women's night taxi between 9 pm and 4 am for a flat 5.50 euros, subsidised by the city. The driver waits until the front door is closed, and IVB advises booking early because the wait is at least 20 minutes.
- Several IVB routes double as excursion lines: the Sightseer bus links the Old Town, Bergisel and Ambras Castle, route W runs from Marktplatz to the Alpenzoo, tram 6, the Waldbahn, leaves the centre for the countryside at Igls, and route J joins the Nordkette and Patscherkofel mountain areas.
- The Stubaitalbahn, IVB route STB, runs from Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof out to Fulpmes in the Stubai Valley, with numerous excursion destinations along the line south of the city.
- The Hungerburgbahn climbs from the Old Town to the Hungerburg in eight minutes, stopping at the Alpenzoo. From there the Seegrube and Hafelekar cable cars continue to the top of the Nordkette, above the Karwendel, Austria's largest nature park.
- Guests staying at least two nights with a partner accommodation receive the free Welcome Card, which works as a public transport ticket in the Innsbruck region and gives free or reduced cable car rides and discounted leisure entry.
- Trains south from Innsbruck to Fortezza in Italy still climb the Brenner Pass line, a journey of 1 hour 20 minutes. The 55 km Brenner Base Tunnel under construction beneath it is designed to cut the passenger run to 25 minutes.
