- From 1 October 2026 central Plovdiv has a low-emission zone, the Small Ring, bounded by the Ruski, Tsar Boris III Obedinitel, Hristo Botev and Shesti Septemvri boulevards. The restriction applies every year from 1 October to 30 April.
- Only the oldest cars are kept out of the Small Ring: petrol cars built before 1996 or first registered from 1996 to 1998, and diesels built before 2002 or dating from 2002 to 2007. Cars with no recorded ecological category are not treated as offenders.
- Plovdiv has three intercity bus stations. Bus Station South, where the airport shuttle starts, handles Sofia, Burgas and Varna; buses 7, 20 and 26 link it with the centre, or it is roughly a 20-minute walk along Ivan Vazov Street.
- Bus Station Rodopi, beside the Central Railway Station, serves 38 destinations including mountain resorts. Buses 1 and 27 and trolleybus 3 run from it to the centre, and an underpass connects it with the railway station.
- Bus Station North, well away from the centre, serves 40 destinations north of Plovdiv. Bus 99 or a taxi is the way to reach it.
- The Central Railway Station, at 46 Hristo Botev Boulevard, is about 15 minutes on foot from downtown along Ivan Vazov Street. Buses 7, 20 and 26 cover the same trip.
- Plovdiv taxis are always yellow. Ranks stand in front of hotels, the railway station and the bus stations, you can also flag one down in the street, and it is worth checking that the fares are displayed correctly before you set off.
- For the ride from the airport, the operator lists four taxi firms: Green, One, Perfect Taxi and Eco Taxi. Anyone meeting a flight can park at the terminal free for the first 15 minutes.
- The municipal tourist information office in the Old Town, at 1 Dr Stoyan Chomakov Street, opens every day from 9:00 to 18:00 in summer and to 17:30 in winter, and advises on city transport and on trains and buses to other towns.
- Two more tourist information points face the Roman Stadium square, at 1 Rayko Daskalov Street and 11 Tsanko Lavrenov Street. In summer they stay open until 22:00 and 21:00 respectively, and until 20:00 in winter.
